Laura has worked exclusively in criminal law throughout her legal career, first as a prosecutor in Vancouver and Vernon for many years and then as a criminal defence lawyer in Vernon.  She understands the law from both sides of the issues and can help you protect yourself in your criminal or motor vehicle matters.  Her office is in Vernon, but she will travel to other locations in British Columbia to represent her clients. 

 

Before she became a lawyer, Laura was a professional cellist for over ten years, performing and recording orchestral and chamber music and Broadway shows across Canada and the United States.  The skills of hard work, focus, analysis and collaboration that she honed as a musician serve her well as a criminal lawyer.  She can work with you to analyze your legal situation, negotiate on your behalf with Crown counsel and advocate for you in court to get your best outcome.  

 

Laura belongs to several professional organisations, including the Canadian Bar Association, the Trial Lawyers' Association of British Columbia, the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society and the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers.  She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law, as well as Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from UBC.
